He was assisted by his very nice and able friend, Marianne Donahoe.

It is chock full of Action, Adventure, Romance, and Humor from his Ancestry, Growing Up Years, Naval Aviator service, Professional Photography years, and accounts of interesting experiences with Acquaintances and Celebrities.

Robert Alexander is a Professional Photographer specializing in Military Reunions, the "Hollywood Style of Photography" Portraits, and Digital Restorations.
He is also a Naval Aviator from the Korean War era, flying Corsairs, Bearcats, and Spads (AD's) off of many Aircraft Carriers, plus land, of course.
This is now his 61st year in business and 2011 is his 17th year in Photoshop and 22nd in Digital Photography.
Robert now teaches courses in Photography and Photoshop at his home in Brandon, MS.

Good News!

For several years, I have taught Digital Photography and Photoshop. My most talented student, Ed Gardner, has become a Professional Photographer and will work with me on a contractual basis, doing a lot of the "taking" of groups plus the heavy lifting, as I am not as young as when most of you first knew me.
I will still do the artwork, design, and printing of the Group Photos. He does it just as I and I am sure you will enjoy knowing him. He just completed photographing the following:

Military Reunion Group Photos at their best

Using the best Digital Equipment and 40+ years of experience, Robert Alexander Reunion Group Photos are made to be "Works of Art" and "Talking Pieces", not just photos to be put in a drawer.
Over and over, we hear from customers that they have hung them on the den wall for friends to see and admire.

Up to about four photos of ships, planes, actions, or slogans are added above the crowd to show what went on "back then". Across the bottom, relevant emblems and inscription are artistically added. The complete photos are colorful and made on 200 year Archival Paper to provide many decades of enjoyment. 40+ years of prompt delivery is our Trademark. Please note that all faces are evenly lighted and recognizable.

Using this Low resolution to make them move fast will not show them sharp and clear as they really are, but you can tell very well.

Below is an early photo of the Hurricane Hunters from way back in 1996 in the early days of Photoshop. These brave men flew right into the worst storms to gather Hurricane information to help us all survive them. I have the greatest respect for these daring Naval Aviators and their crews. Many owe their lives to them.Fun story that was not "so much fun":
Up until the 8 hurricanes of 2004 and 2005, in 40 years, we had only lost ONE Reunion to a hurricane. That one was THE HURRICANE HUNTERS.

The men of the USS Lafayette

Awe-inspiring is the word for the Silver Eagles, the Navy's Enlisted Naval Aviation Pilots. They prevailed from before WWII until the 80's, carrying a large share of the Navy Air responsibilties with honor and distinction.

The Silver Eagles have a complete section in the National Museum of Naval Aviation in Pensacola, FL. You must see it whenever you have the chance.

We have had the nice opportunity to photograph them several times. These are some of my lifetime heroes. Plus, they put on the greatest Reunions.

Before and After

Alexander utilizes all his Military, Photography, and Digital, experience to make your Group Photos the ultimate in value. He adds photos of planes, ships, action scenes, emblems, slogans, and many others to give you a BONUS of extra photos of important memorable items.

Here is a "Before" and "After" example of the Convair Association Reunion, held in Orange Beach, AL, near Pensacola. Note all the improvements from just a regular old group photo. In particular, see how the lighting is corrected so that all faces are evenly lit in the final photo.

Fun story: The Convair members said to me that they wanted to be posed in front of a Convair and did I know where there was one? I said "Yes, I have three of them". They looked startled and asked, "Where are they?" I replied, ""In my computer room". The results are shown below.

Going back before WWI, the Army Air Corps and now the Air Force, has stood tall in defending both the skies and the country through the Air. Their heroism in all the major wars have been a major reason we still live in a free land. It's always a joy to make their group photos. Hats Off! to the United States Air Force.

The Men of the 58th "Gorilla" Fighter Pilots at Sandestin, Florida

The United States Marine Corps continues to distinguish itself as a premier force in protecting the "Land of the Free and the home of the brave".
We have had the privilege of photographing literally hundreds of their reunions and always enjoy seeing them and hearing of their wide-flung exploits. Always colorful and undaunted, even when older, the USMC guides their lives and thinking. "Once a Marine, always a Marine"
This print is an 8" X 18" Tribute Print, originally named as a Tribute to them.

Troy Watson, a battle-tested American hero and defender of the Constitution, and The E27 Marines of the United States Marine Corps, at Tunica, MS, a great new Reunion site, just south of Memphis, TN.

Ladies have always played such an important role in Military Men's lives. Alexander always tries to include great Group Photos of the Fairer Sex. What would we do without them?

From 1946 to 1949, the Flying Midshipmen were a main source of the Navy for procuring Naval Aviators. Trained in Pensacola and Corpus Christi, following college, they became a powerful force in the security of America. This is their 2009 reunion of this sterling group, held in Pensacola, and photographed by *Ed Gardner, then finished and printed by *Robert Alexander. (**The "Dynamic Duo" of Reunion Photography).

Other Group Reunions

Many others have conventions or seminars. They lend themselves well to up-graded ideas, such as this Circuit Clerks and Chancery Clerks yearly meetings. We have photographed many since the 1950's. We are always open to great suggestions as to what you want to portray as your "Reason for being". This is why so many display our photos of them with pride, to show others, rather than relegating them to a drawer or scrapbook.

ON A PERSONAL NOTE:

Mostly in a spirit of serious fun, Ed Gardner and Robert Alexander call themselves the "Dynamic Duo" of Group Photography. Gardner came along as Alexander was completing 50+ years of Photographic experience, of mostly Groups and Portraits. Gardner had already established himself a competent Sports Photographer, becoming the Official Mississippi Braves Baseball lensman, plus covering a number of major College Football games, Bowls,The Viking Classic, and other events.

The combination really clicked. Now Gardner does most of the "taking", and Alexander, most of the Photoshop and Printing. The results are some of the best of their kind you will see. The bright and youthful vigor of Gardner and Alexander's mountain of knowledge, blend into a wellspring of eye-pleasing photography.

Restorations

For 45+ years, Alexander has perfected the art of Restoring and Enhancing photos. When the National Museum of Aviation found a very important photo of Adm. Reid's family accidentally torn and wrinkled, they asked Robert to put it back as it once was. The results are shown below. This work is all done on computers now and sometimes is startling.
